Bathroom hygiene and hotspots
Top 3 Bathroom germ hotspots
1. Frequently touched surfaces
Commonly touched surfaces such as the toilet flush, toilet seat, bathroom tap, doorknobs, and waste bins may all become dirty and contaminated with bacteria and viruses during normal use of the bathroom. To tackle this, use a powerful cleaner to remove dirt and any limescale that may build up. Secondly, follow these frequently touched surfaces up with a disinfectant to kill any bacteria and viruses.
2. Cloths/Sponges
Bathroom cleaning cloths and bathing sponges can house germs if they remain damp and dirty. Regularly disinfect these re-usable cloths, flannels, and sponges by washing them separately in a hot wash (greater than 60°C), or by soaking them in a solution of Dettol Disinfectant Liquid.
3. Personal Hygiene Items
Personal use items such as toothbrushes and towels can become contaminated with harmful bacteria and viruses. One way to combat this would be to distance these items further away from the toilet and clean or replace them regularly.
Don’t forget to wash your hands
Your hands are one of the most important causes of cross-contamination and cross-infection in the home. Be sure to wash them with soap and clean water when needed.
